I am Loren Swancutt, founder of School Inclusion – From Theory to Practice. I am a passionate and accomplished inclusive educator and school leader who is committed to advancing the realisation of inclusive education within the Australian context.
I have designed and led successful whole-school inclusive reform at a complex and challenging high school, and have fulfilled system level coaching roles focused on building the capability of Principals and school leaders to engage in inclusive school improvement. I have fulfilled teaching and leadership positions across Primary and Secondary school settings.
I am well known for my innovative work in the area of inclusive reform, inclusive curriculum, instructional strategies and assessment design, and with supporting students with complex learning profiles to engage with age-equivalent, academic curriculum and regular classroom experiences. I deliver guest lectures for initial teacher education and master level university courses, and present on inclusive education topics at conferences around Australia. In 2020, I commenced my Doctorate of Education.
School Inclusion provides innovative and practical professional learning opportunities that focus on transforming the theory and fundamental concepts of inclusive education into actionable and sustainable practice.
Loren provides online courses that are focused on topics which help to promote and improve inclusive education practices. The courses are aimed at building the self-efficacy of school leaders, teachers, and teacher assistants to implement effective and impactful strategies and practices that support the inclusion of all students in the regular curriculum and general education environment. The content of the courses centres on the transformation of theory and research into scalable and sustainable practice in Australian schools.

Loren facilitates webinars that respond to inclusive schooling questions and challenges of practice identified by members of the School Inclusion Network for Educators (SINE). The webinars provide a collaborative and interactive professional learning platform to build teacher knowledge and capability. The webinars draw on a combination of research and experience to conceptualise practice in a way that assists with bridging the theory to practice gap. Content is practical and engaging, and provided both as a live experience and/or as an on-demand recording.
